This vintage set of beginning readers isbrand new and in excellent condition! This set is clean and comes from a smoke free home.

This set consists of 2 "Color Me Readers" from "The Eager Beaver Series". The copyright is 1989 and the publisher is Grossnickle. The books measure 5.5" x 8.5". These books are called "Color Me Readers", because all of the illustrations are in black and white and can be colored as the reader wishes. All of the stories in these books are fiction and feature animals.

The "Color Me Readers" are a controlled vocabulary reading series and a companion to the "Eager Beaver Reader" workbooks, which I used to have but already sold. For the convenience of both teachers and parents, each story is prefaced with a summary, a word list, and questions to check comprehension of material. The word lists include both high-frequency sight words and short vowel decodable words.

These books are leveled. I used to have "Color Me Readers" with an orange title, which were #1, but also already sold. The book with the blue title is #2 in "The Eager Beaver Series". It is easier than the book with the green title, which is #3, so it should be attempted first by children. It has less text in it. These books each contain 3 different stories.

I have enclosed pictures of the 3 pages in each book that show the "Word List", "Story Summary", and "Story Questions". After each of these pages, are the next few pages of the story. I also photographed both of the books together, so you can see the difference in the text between the 2 levels.

This set would make a wonderful addition to a kindergarten or 1st grade classroom to be used as reading material during independent reading time. It would also be great to have in a household with young children or to give as a gift to a little one! I am hoping to find this set a good home.
